Remote Learning Options for Your Virtual Classroom

The world is changing quickly, and COMPAS is changing with it! We’re excited to offer a variety of options for bringing creativity into your virtual classroom. COMPAS programs are customizable and offer flexible formats based on the needs of your students. Connect, collaborate, and create across the distance-learning divide with our different remote program options.

Virtual Residencies

Support student creativity at home through online residencies with COMPAS Teaching Artists! Residencies may take the form of a combination of live, scheduled digital meetings and asynchronous, pre-recorded videos for students to watch through at their own pace. Additions can include personalized Teaching Artist feedback or individual art kits sent to each student. Schools will have access to the videos for one month.

Example virtual residencies include:

Teaching Artist Drop-Ins

COMPAS Teaching Artists can drop into your daily check-in with distance learning classrooms for a 20-45 minute session to inspire and engage your students. Artist Drop-Ins can lead students through on the spot creation and collaboration, or can kick off an art-making unit with a mini-performance and prompt. From songwriting to joke-telling, students will come together and build relationships through creation. What kind of art-making might help your students connect?

Individual Art Kits

Seed art, mini movies, collage, watercolor, drawing, poetry, sewing and more! Each artist-designed kit comes with a step-by-step instruction sheet, art supplies and prompts for further art exploration.  Art kits can be designed as stand-alone activities or can be paired with video instruction that can be hosted on your virtual classroom page.

Examples of Art Kits Include:

A HUGE THANK YOU for turning your lessons into videos so our fourth graders did not miss the experience of learning about Peace poetry. It has brought a beautiful ray of sunshine and a moment of Peace to our students while we make our way through  distance learning.
— Kim Mach, 4th Grade Teacher in Hopkins, MN
Malia’s engagement online was amazing! She has such a teaching nature, and her spirit with the students was so apparent. The kids really gravitated toward her, and the written and live feedback she gave them was so beneficial.
— Melissa Williams, 8th Grade Teacher in Anoka, MN
