COMPAS announces the release of its 40th Anthology of Student Writing, The World in Our Palms. The 105 featured poems, stories, songs, creative non-fiction and spoken word pieces were selected from thousands of writings created by Minnesota students in grades Kindergarten to 12.

Saint Paul, MN (March 16, 2017) – Today, President Trump proposed a federal budget plan that would eliminate funding for the National Endowment for the Arts.  If enacted, these proposed budget cuts would have an immediate negative impact on COMPAS artists and students in Minnesota by reducing the amount of funding available through state arts agencies.

Today, COMPAS is proud to announce the Publication of its 37th Anthology of Student Writing, A Bird That Swims & Flies. A Bird That Swims & Flies continues the exciting series’ tradition of showcasing some of the most remarkable poetry, short stories, memoirs, plays, songs and spoken word pieces written by talented students from schools across Minnesota.

Today, COMPAS is excited to announce that fifteen new teaching artists have joined the organization’s roster of more than 100 talented individual teaching artists and performing groups. 

COMPAS announces that two new staff members, Julie Strand and Marian Santucci, have joined the organization.  Julie will serve as Creative Classroom Program Director, and Marian will serve as Artful Aging Program Director.

COMPAS is proud to announce the addition of two new members to its Board of Directors, Mary Sennes and Jeff Goldenberg.  Mary and Jeff join fifteen other members of the Minnesota community on the COMPAS Board of Directors.

COMPAS is proud to announce the recipients of the 2015 Molly Taylor Award: Marcy and Randy Betcher.  The Molly Taylor Award honors an individual or family that has made a significant impact on arts access in Minnesota through their contributions and volunteer efforts, and who shows an unyielding desire to continue to promote the importance of creativity and art-making in our community.

The River Starts Flowing continues the exciting series’ tradition of showcasing some of the most remarkable poetry, short stories, memoirs, plays, and songs written by talented students from schools across Minnesota.

In conjunction with youthrive’s Nobel Peace Prize Youth Festival on March 6, 2015, artists from COMPAS will lead students in grades 6 to 12 in service-learning arts projects to create writings and murals that represent participants’ ideas on “Being the Change.”
