Lucy Rose is an award-winning author, artist, and gerontologist. She had a twenty-five-year career as researcher and teacher—with a PhD in sociology and a specialty in the study of aging. When she was turning sixty, she asked herself, “How old do I have to be to follow my dream?” and she began a new career in visual art and creative writing.
She has published seven books. Her most recent titles are LIFE IS SHORT AND SO AM I, THE JOURNALIST, GROW OLD WITH ME, and I’M NEW AT BEING OLD.
As a visual artist, she specializes in mixed media collage and painting upside-down and backwards on hand-blown glass. Her art has been shown in numerous exhibits and is on permanent display in public institutions and private collections. Her story as a late-blooming artist is featured on the TPT programs “The Creative Power of Aging” and “Life Changing Art.”
Lucy Rose is a keynote speaker for community organizations, offering inspiration and motivation to everyone with a dream for the third age of life. Her programs are designed for older adults.

Telling Our Stories
Everyone has a story to tell. With long lives, we have many stories—some may be funny, others poignant. As story-tellers, we are historians—our personal stories reflect the historical times we’ve lived through. Each session of this workshop will have a question or theme as a prompt to jog our memories. We can choose to share our stories, and we will listen to the stories of others with an open heart. This multi-session workshop will be offered on Zoom. Primary audience: Older Adults

Paper Collage
Creating a paper collage is colorful, a little messy, and lots of fun. The collage process includes dyeing tissue paper with watercolor paints, rubbings (leaves or coins) with oil pastels, and lots of cutting and pasting. This workshop will use the paper collage technique on gesso boards, accordion books, boxes, and/or greeting cards. When gluing brightly colored tissue paper, wrinkles are good!
