Storytelling

In a storytelling residency, students learn the art and craft of storytelling. Danielle shares a variety of different types of stories and folktales, and teaches student storytelling techniques. Each residency is tailored to the goals and objectives of teachers and organizations. A storytelling residency benefits three main types of learning: visual, auditory, and kinesthetic.

In this residency students learn:

Narrative Techniques: How to structure a story with a compelling beginning, engaging middle, and satisfying end.
Character Development: Creating relatable, multidimensional characters.
Voice and Style: Finding their unique storytelling voice and experimenting with different styles and genres.
Performance Skills: For oral storytelling, students work on delivery, pacing, tone, and audience engagement.
Critical Thinking: Analyzing stories from different cultures and perspectives to deepen their understanding of the storytelling craft.

Theater Arts

In a theater/drama residency, Danielle uses theatre games and creative movement to help students practice body expression, develop social and emotional skills, and boosts creativity and imagination. Danielle goal is to nurture students’ creativity, emotional intelligence, critical thinking, and social skills. In the residency students create and perform skits and monologues.

Through role-playing, character development, script reading and group performances, students learn to listen, express their ideas clearly, negotiate roles and ideas, and empathy as they embody different perspectives and understand the motivations and experiences of others.

Danielle residency is designed to stimulate students’ creativity and imagination, encouraging students to think outside the box, explore different possibilities, and take risks in their artistic expression.

Creative Writing
