Youth Arts Programs
New! ArtScope Program
ArtScope is a new program beginning during the summer of 2012. Youth ages 13-18 apply to apprentice under professional artists much like the ArtsWork program. However, ArtScope is shorter in length, and incorporates intentional practice in career exploration, writing a resume and cover letter, completing an application, hearing from guest speakers and ArtsWork almuni, accessing community resources and taking field trips. Applications are now being accepted!
ArtsWork
By pairing mentoring artists with apprentices, aged 14 to 21, the youth develop both workplace and artistic skills. Groups of youth learn art forms from professional artists and create original art for sale, hold performances or exhibitions, and produce public works of art. Apprentices also develop vital job abilities with an emphasis on 21st century skills, such as teamwork, communications, critical thinking, conflict resolution, self-direction and goal setting.
